Westgarth Theatre - Northcote

The cinematic feature Anne of Green Gables was the first movie ever cast onto the big screen at The Westgarth Picture Theatre. But there have been a thousand more classics since.

Officially opened on October 20, 1921 the historic cinema was the place to be for movie-buffs every weekend. Melbourne's oldest functioning cinema was refurbished and re-opened in 2006. It remains one of the most architecturally striking additions to the inner city suburb of Northcote.
